A healthier twist on the classic chicken fried steak, made in the air fryer for a crispy, golden finish without the extra oil.
Ingredients

- 4 pieces of cube steak
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dredge each piece of cube steak in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
- Dip the steak into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off.
- Finally, coat the steak in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Spray both sides of the coated steak with cooking spray.
- Place the steaks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to do this in batches.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve immediately with your favorite gravy or sides.
