- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
- Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked pasta, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, simmer the sauce longer to reduce it.
- You can substitute half-and-half for a lighter version.
- Add cooked chicken or shrimp for a complete meal.
