  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Celebrate Independence Day with this fun and festive American Flag Cookie Cake! Soft and chewy cookie base topped with cream cheese frosting and decorated to resemble the American flag.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red and blue food coloring
  • Fresh strawberries and blueberries for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking sheet or a 12-inch round pizza pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the cookie dough evenly onto the prepared baking sheet or pizza pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Allow to cool completely in the pan.
  8. In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  9. Once the cookie cake has cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting on top.
  10. Use red and blue food coloring to create stripes and a star field on the frosting. Alternatively, you can use fresh strawberries for the red stripes and blueberries for the star field.
  11. Slice and serve your festive American Flag Cookie Cake!

Notes

  • Make sure to let the cookie cake cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
  • You can customize the decoration with other fruits or sprinkles as desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
