Description
A hearty baked ziti casserole perfect for weeknight dinners. Serve with garlic bread for a complete meal.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook ziti according to package instructions. Drain.
- Brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Combine cooked ziti with meat sauce.
- Transfer half the mixture to a greased 9×13 baking dish.
- Sprinkle with half the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Add remaining pasta mixture and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Substitute ground turkey for a lighter version
- Add 1 cup ricotta cheese for extra creaminess
- Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months
