  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth.
  6. Mix in the BBQ sauce until well combined.
  7. Fold in the cooked macaroni until evenly coated with the sauce.
  8. If desired, transfer the mixture to a baking dish, top with breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
