Description
A classic Greek dish featuring tender beef and orzo pasta cooked in a rich tomato sauce. Simple yet flavorful, this one-pot meal is perfect for a hearty dinner.

- 500g beef (cut into cubes)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add beef and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Return the beef to the pot. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until beef is tender.
- Add orzo and cook for another 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is al dente.
- Remove from heat. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Sprinkle with grated cheese if desired.
Notes
- Use lamb as a substitute for beef for a traditional variation.
- Adjust broth quantity if you prefer a thicker or thinner sauce.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
