Description

These beef meatballs in tomato sauce are a comforting and hearty dish, perfect for a family dinner or meal prep. Tender, juicy meatballs are simmered in a rich and flavorful tomato sauce, making for a delicious pairing with pasta, rice, or crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes and sugar. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer in the tomato sauce for 20 minutes, until cooked through.
  6. Serve meatballs and sauce over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add chopped onions or bell peppers to the sauce.
  • You can use ground turkey or chicken as a substitute for beef.
  • These meatballs can be frozen before or after cooking for easy meal prep.
