This berry trifle recipe layers luscious sponge cake, creamy custard, and a medley of fresh berries for a delightful dessert that is perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 pound sponge cake or pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding or custard

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  2. In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, layer half of the cake cubes at the bottom.
  3. Add half of the vanilla pudding or custard over the cake layer.
  4. Add half of the mixed berries on top of the pudding layer.
  5. Spread half of the whipped cream over the berries.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  7. Garnish with additional berries if desired. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought cake or make your own sponge cake.
  • Feel free to customize with your favorite berries or add layers of chocolate or caramel sauce.
