best prime rib roast recipe for a succulent holiday feast

  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

This prime rib roast recipe delivers a succulent, tender cut of meat, seasoned to perfection and cooked to your desired doneness. Perfect for special occasions and holiday dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5-7 pounds) prime rib roast, bone-in
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, and olive oil to create a paste.
  3. Rub the garlic herb mixture all over the prime rib roast, making sure to coat all sides.
  4. Place the roast bone-side down in a roasting pan. Pour beef broth into the bottom of the pan.
  5. Roast the prime rib in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to create a crust.
  6. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium).
  7. Remove from the oven and let the roast rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Notes

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
  • Letting the roast rest allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful roast.
  • Consider serving with horseradish sauce or au jus for added flavor.
