Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (5-7 pounds) prime rib roast, bone-in
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a small bowl, combine minced garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, rosemary, thyme, and olive oil to create a paste.
- Rub the garlic herb mixture all over the prime rib roast, making sure to coat all sides.
- Place the roast bone-side down in a roasting pan. Pour beef broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast the prime rib in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to create a crust.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (125°F for rare, 135°F for medium-rare, 145°F for medium).
- Remove from the oven and let the roast rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
- Letting the roast rest allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful roast.
- Consider serving with horseradish sauce or au jus for added flavor.
