Description
The ultimate prime rib roast recipe that results in a tender, juicy, and flavorful roast every time. Perfect for special occasions or holiday dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (5-6 pound) prime rib roast, bone-in
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup beef broth (for roasting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme.
- Rub the olive oil all over the prime rib roast, then rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the roast.
- Place the roast bone-side down in a roasting pan. Pour the beef broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (about 130°F for medium-rare, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours).
- Once done, remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature.
- Letting the roast rest allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring every slice is juicy.
- Adjust cooking times based on the size of your roast and desired doneness.
