Description
These Brown Butter Banana Bread Waffles combine the rich, nutty flavor of brown butter with the sweetness of ripe bananas, creating a deliciously unique twist on traditional waffles.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking until the butter turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, brown sugar, and brown butter. Mix until well combined.
- Add the egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture. Mix until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Preheat your waffle maker according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Pour the batter into the preheated waffle maker, using enough to cover the surface without overflowing. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove the waffles and repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve the waffles warm with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, sliced bananas, or whipped cream.
Notes
- Make sure to use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
- You can store any leftover waffles in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze them for later use.
