These brown butter chocolate chip cookies are the perfect combination of nutty, caramel flavors with gooey chocolate chips. The brown butter adds a rich depth of flavor that takes these classic cookies to the next level.

- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the butter foams and turns a golden brown color, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and browned butter. Mix until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set but still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For a chewier cookie, refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
- Feel free to mix in nuts or other types of chocolate for added flavor.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
