Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 1 tbsp milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, sugar, salt, melted butter, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix to form a dough.
  3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  6. Spread melted butter on the dough. Sprinkle cinnamon, brown sugar, ginger, cardamom, and cloves evenly.
  7. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing. Drizzle over warm rolls.
