Description

A warm and gooey cheese fondue perfect for dipping bread and vegetables.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 200g Gruyere cheese
  • 200g Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, halved
  • 300ml dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Crusty bread, cut into cubes for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic halves.
  2. Pour in the white wine and lemon juice and heat gently.
  3. Grate the Gruyere and Emmental cheese and gradually stir into the wine.
  4. Mix cornstarch with kirsch and add to the cheese mixture.
  5. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted and smooth.
  6. Season with pepper.
  7. Serve with bread cubes for dipping.

Notes

  • Use a good quality wine for better flavor.
  • Keep the pot on low heat to maintain the melted consistency.
  • Feel free to add vegetables or fruits for dipping.
