Ingredients

  • 1 cup of grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup of grated Emmental cheese
  • 1 clove of garlic, halved
  • 1 cup of dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon of kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Bread cubes for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic.
  2. Pour the wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat until just simmering.
  3. Gradually add the cheese, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  4. Mix cornstarch with kirsch and add to the cheese mixture to thicken.
  5. Season with black pepper.
  6. Serve with bread cubes for dipping.
