- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine chicken, chicken broth, water, onion, carrots, and celery.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until chicken is cooked through.
- Remove chicken from pot and shred into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add melted butter and milk to the flour mixture and stir until combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling mixture into the simmering broth.
- Cover and cook for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Return shredded chicken to the pot and stir gently.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
