- 1 cup hot water

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add the olive oil and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Slowly add the hot water to the mixture, stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve.
