  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

A delicious and festive breakfast casserole perfect for Christmas morning, filled with eggs, bread, sausage, and cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 6 cups cubed bread (such as French or Italian)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Add the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese to the egg mixture. Stir until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight to allow the bread to soak up the egg mixture.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is set and golden brown on top.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
