- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin or line with paper liners.
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, sage, and thyme.
- Stir in the cooked sausage and shredded cheese.
- In another bowl, beat the egg, then mix in milk and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Spoon batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup 2/3 full.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use a mild or spicy sausage based on your preference.
- For extra flavor, add 1/4 cup diced onions or bell peppers to the sausage while cooking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for later.
