Description
A classic Christmas trifle made with layers of sponge cake, custard, fruit, and whipped cream.

- 8 oz sponge cake
- 2 cups mixed berries
- 2 cups custard
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1/2 cup sherry (optional)
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the sponge cake into cubes.
- Layer half of the sponge cake in a trifle dish.
- Drizzle with sherry if using.
- Add a layer of mixed berries.
- Spread half of the custard over the berries.
- Add a layer of whipped cream.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
- Top with chocolate shavings.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
