Delicious homemade churros coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for serving with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.

- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Chocolate sauce or dulce de leche (for dipping)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
- Let cool for 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into hot oil.
- Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the mixture to coat.
- Serve with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar.
- Churros are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
