Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Chocolate sauce or dulce de leche (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
  3. Let cool for 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into hot oil.
  6. Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the mixture to coat.
  8. Serve with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar.
  • Churros are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
