Description
Deliciously crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these homemade churros are rolled in cinnamon sugar for the perfect sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to the desired length with scissors.
- Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll warm churros in the sugar mixture to coat.
Notes
- For a chocolate dipping sauce, melt chocolate with heavy cream and mix until smooth.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding churros; otherwise, they can become greasy.
