Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 whole large eggs
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- In a deep pan, heat oil to 375°F (190°C). Pipe churros into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.
- Fry until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon, then roll the fried churros in this mixture.
- For the chocolate sauce, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth.
- Serve churros warm with chocolate dipping sauce.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dough.
- Churros are best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven for a few minutes.
