- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup (150g) frozen peas
- 4 cups (600g) mashed potatoes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and carrots, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and rosemary. Mix well.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Stir in the frozen peas and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
- Use a fork to create texture on the mashed potatoes for a crispy finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to add other vegetables like corn or green beans for extra flavor.
- You can prepare the beef mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge until ready to bake.
