  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen peas
  • 4 cups (600g) mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and carrots, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and rosemary. Mix well.
  6. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  7. Stir in the frozen peas and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
  9. Use a fork to create texture on the mashed potatoes for a crispy finish.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

  • Feel free to add other vegetables like corn or green beans for extra flavor.
