Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- Green onions, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
- Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in orange zest.
- Toss the crispy chicken in the orange sauce until well coated.
- Serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
- For extra crispy chicken, double fry the chicken pieces.
- Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the orange sauce by adding more or less sugar.
- Serve with steamed rice or fried rice for a complete meal.
