Description

A simple and flavorful chicken tikka masala made in a crockpot. Tender chicken thighs simmer in a rich, creamy tomato sauce with aromatic spices.


Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, turmeric, paprika, salt, ginger, and garlic.
  2. Add chicken thighs and coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  3. Place diced onion in the crockpot and top with marinated chicken.
  4. Pour tomato sauce over the chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and butter. Cook for another 15 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, grill or broil the marinated chicken before adding to the crockpot.
  • Adjust spice levels by adding more garam masala or chili powder.
  • Serve with rice or naan bread.
