A delicious and indulgent breakfast dish featuring buttery croissants soaked in a rich custard and topped with fresh berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 croissants (preferably day-old)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.)
  • for dusting powdered sugar
  • for frying butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Cut each croissant in half horizontally and dip them into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak for a few seconds on each side.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little butter to coat the bottom.
  5. Place the soaked croissants cut-side down in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the cooked croissants to a baking sheet and finish baking in the oven for about 10 minutes.
  7. While the croissants are baking, prepare the fresh berries by washing and slicing them as needed.
  8. Serve the croissant French toast warm, topped with fresh berries and dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can mix in a tablespoon of orange zest into the egg mixture.
  • Feel free to substitute the mixed berries with your favorite fruits.
