Description

A simple and delicious General Tso Chicken recipe that’s quick to make at home. Perfect for a weeknight dinner with a sweet and spicy sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss chicken with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook chicken until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds.
  4. Add brown sugar, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and red pepper flakes. Stir well.
  5. Return chicken to the pan and coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Garnish with green onions and serve over rice.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, double-fry the chicken after marinating.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes for more or less heat.
  • Substitute chicken thighs with breast if preferred.
