Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225g) penne pasta
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 (14 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes. Season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Add cooked pasta to the sauce. Toss to coat evenly.
