Ingredients

- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
- Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Gradually blend in dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place on ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
- Let stand on baking sheet 2 minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
- For frosting: Combine powdered sugar, milk, corn syrup, and almond extract. Beat until smooth.
- Add food coloring if desired.
- Spread frosting on cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles if using.
Notes
- Store cookies in airtight container.
- Dough can be refrigerated up to 2 days before baking.
