  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of boiling salted water, blanch the green beans for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. Add the blanched green beans and half of the crispy fried onions to the soup mixture. Stir until the beans are well coated.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread it evenly.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  7. Remove the casserole from the oven and top with the remaining crispy fried onions.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add sautéed garlic or onions to the mixture.
  • This recipe can be made ahead of time; simply cover and refrigerate before baking. Add an extra 10 minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the fridge.
