Description

This grilled black cod recipe features a rich, buttery flavor enhanced by a zesty lemon herb butter that takes the dish to another level. Perfect for a summer barbecue or a cozy dinner at home.


Ingredients

  • 2 black cod fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, lemon zest, lemon juice, parsley, dill, thyme, and minced garlic until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Brush the black cod fillets with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the fillets on the grill, skin side down. Grill for about 4-5 minutes, then carefully flip and grill for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  5. During the last minute of grilling, spoon some of the lemon herb butter over the fillets to melt.
  6. Remove the fillets from the grill and serve immediately with additional lemon herb butter on top.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh herbs for the lemon herb butter.
  • Make sure the grill is preheated before adding the fish to prevent sticking.
  • You can also use a grill basket if you’re worried about the fish falling apart.
