Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté onion, carrots, and celery until soft.
  2. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Stir in ham and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add soaked beans, broth, thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  6. Remove bay leaf before serving.
