Description
A hearty soup made with ham bone and vegetables.
Ingredients

- 1 ham bone
- 6 cups water
- 2 cups chopped vegetables (carrots, celery, onions)
- 1 cup diced potatoes
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place the ham bone in a large pot.
- Add water and bring to a boil.
- Add chopped vegetables, potatoes, thyme, and bay leaf.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
- Remove the ham bone, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add garlic.
- You can use leftover ham instead of a bone.
- This soup freezes well.
