Ingredients

  • 3 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly using a mandoline or a sharp knife, about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. Soak the potato slices in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve crispiness.
  3. Drain and rinse the potato slices under cold water. Pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  4. In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and any optional seasonings until evenly coated.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
  6. Place the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  7. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them towards the end to avoid burning.
  8. Once they are golden brown and crispy, remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, experiment with different seasonings like ranch powder, chili powder, or cheese powder.
  • Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket, as this can lead to uneven cooking.
