Description
Crispy and delicious homemade potato chips made easily in an air fryer. Perfectly seasoned and healthier than traditional frying methods.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice them thinly using a mandoline or a sharp knife, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Soak the potato slices in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps achieve crispiness.
- Drain and rinse the potato slices under cold water. Pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and any optional seasonings until evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
- Place the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time to ensure even cooking. Keep an eye on them towards the end to avoid burning.
- Once they are golden brown and crispy, remove the chips from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, experiment with different seasonings like ranch powder, chili powder, or cheese powder.
- Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket, as this can lead to uneven cooking.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
