  • Author: ushinzomr

Description

Deliciously soft and fluffy doughnuts filled with your favorite jam, perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat any time of the day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup jam (your choice)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, combine milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix well.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or two round cutters.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Once cooled, inject each doughnut with jam using a pastry injector or fill them with jam using a piping bag.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use your favorite jam or jelly for filling.
  • Ensure the oil temperature is correct for even frying.
  • Doughnuts are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
