Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup jam (your choice)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, combine milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Let rest for 10 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or two round cutters.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Once cooled, inject each doughnut with jam using a pastry injector or fill them with jam using a piping bag.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
