- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 package (3 oz) jello (any flavor)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping
- for garnish sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan and bake according to package instructions, usually about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- While the cake is cooling, prepare the jello according to package directions. Dissolve the jello powder in boiling water, then stir in cold water.
- Using a fork or skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cooled cake.
- Pour the prepared jello mixture evenly over the top of the cake, making sure to fill the holes.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the jello to set.
- Once set, spread whipped topping over the cake and garnish with sprinkles before serving.
Notes
- You can use any flavor of jello for this recipe.
- For a more colorful cake, use multiple flavors of jello and create a rainbow effect.
