Ingredients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 2 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
- Mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Stuff the turkey cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
- Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check doneness.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- For crispier skin, increase oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 30 minutes.
