  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Rinse the turkey and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary in a bowl.
  4. Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  5. Stuff the turkey cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
  6. Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan.
  7. Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  8. Roast for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check doneness.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • For crispier skin, increase oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) for the last 30 minutes.
