Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup bourbon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar and melted butter, stirring until well blended.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  6. If using bourbon, stir it in now.
  7. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the pie to cool before serving. Serve with whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
