- 8 slices of white bread, toasted
- 1 pound sliced turkey breast
- 4 slices of cooked bacon
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- Slowly add the heavy cream, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese, cayenne pepper, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.
- Arrange the toasted bread slices on a baking sheet. Layer the turkey slices on top of each piece of bread.
- Pour the cheese sauce generously over the turkey, ensuring each piece is well covered.
- Top each sandwich with two slices of bacon.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can use a combination of cheeses such as Gruyere and Parmesan.
- Feel free to add sliced tomatoes on top of the turkey for extra flavor.
