Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup BBQ sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat your oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and back into the flour mixture to coat well.
- Finally, dip the onion rings into the breadcrumbs, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove the onion rings from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with BBQ sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra crunch, double dip the onion rings in the buttermilk and breadcrumbs.
- You can add additional spices to the flour mixture for more flavor.
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the onion rings from becoming greasy.
