- 8 oz spaghetti or linguine
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the lemon zest and juice to the skillet, stirring to combine.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat with the lemon mixture. If the pasta seems dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and chopped basil. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan and basil if desired.
