- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until thickened.
- Add cheddar and Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni. Transfer to a baking dish.
- Mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
- Bake at 375°F for 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
Notes
- Use fresh shredded cheese for best melting.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
