Description
Delicious and hearty meat-stuffed potato dumplings that are perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound ground meat (beef, pork, or chicken)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Butter, for serving
- Fresh herbs, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.
- Mash the potatoes in a large bowl until smooth. Add the flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- In a skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Add the ground meat to the skillet, season with paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Divide the potato dough into small portions. Flatten each portion into a disk and place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center.
- Fold the dough over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a dumpling. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the dumplings into the boiling water in batches. Cook until they float to the top, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and let them drain.
- Serve the dumplings warm, topped with melted butter and fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- You can use leftover meat or even vegetables for the filling.
- Make sure to seal the dumplings well to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
