Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onions
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Instructions

  1. Mix chicken with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Marinate for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat a pan over medium heat. Cook chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until fully cooked.
  3. For the tzatziki, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, and feta cheese. Mix well.
  4. Warm the pita breads in a dry pan for 30 seconds each.
  5. Assemble the gyros by placing chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onions on each pita. Top with feta tzatziki.
  6. Fold the pita and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of chili flakes to the chicken marinade.
  • Draining the cucumber prevents the tzatziki from becoming watery.
  • Use whole wheat pita for a healthier option.
