Celebrate Memorial Day with this stunning and delicious Patriotic Berry Trifle, layered with bright red strawberries, sweet blueberries, and creamy vanilla pudding. A perfect dessert to honor the day.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup whipped cream, plus extra for topping
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound pound cake, cut into cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
  2. In another bowl, fold the whipped cream and vanilla extract into the pudding mixture until fully combined.
  3. In a large trifle dish or glass bowl, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.
  4. Add a layer of half of the sliced strawberries and half of the blueberries over the cake.
  5. Spread half of the pudding mixture over the berries.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining pound cake, strawberries, blueberries, and pudding.
  7. Top with extra whipped cream and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • You can substitute the pound cake with angel food cake or sponge cake if preferred.
  • Feel free to add other berries like raspberries for a mix of flavors.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance; just keep it covered in the refrigerator.
