Refreshingly sweet and minty, this classic cocktail is perfect for serving a crowd. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious pitcher of mint juleps to enjoy on a warm day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh mint leaves, plus extra for garnish
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups bourbon
- Crushed ice
- Mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Once the simple syrup is cool, add the mint leaves and muddle gently to release the oils. Let it steep for about 30 minutes.
- Strain the mint leaves from the syrup and discard the leaves.
- In a large pitcher, combine the mint syrup and bourbon. Stir well to combine.
- To serve, fill glasses with crushed ice and pour the mint julep mixture over the ice. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs.
Notes
- For a stronger mint flavor, let the mint steep in the syrup for longer.
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar to the syrup.
- Serve immediately after mixing for the best flavor and freshness.
