Description
Indulge your mom with a rich and decadent chocolate lava cake that oozes molten chocolate goodness. This dessert is sure to impress and is surprisingly easy to make!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Vanilla ice cream (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until well combined. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture, then add the flour, vanilla, and salt. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is still soft. Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute.
- Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the cake to slide out. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- For best results, make sure not to overbake the cakes; the centers should remain gooey.
- You can prepare the batter ahead of time and refrigerate in the ramekins until you’re ready to bake.
