Deliciously flaky and sweet, these Pistachio Baklava Rolls are a delightful twist on traditional baklava, filled with a rich pistachio mixture and drizzled with honey syrup.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough (16 oz), thawed
  • 2 cups pistachios, shelled and finely chopped
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped pistachios, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out.
  4. Take one sheet of phyllo, brush it lightly with melted butter, and place another sheet on top. Brush again with butter.
  5. Sprinkle a thin layer of the pistachio mixture along one edge of the phyllo dough.
  6. Roll the phyllo dough tightly over the pistachio filling, forming a log. Repeat with remaining sheets and filling.
  7. Place the rolled baklava on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with more melted butter.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, honey, and vanilla. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  11. Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava rolls.
  12. Allow the baklava to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the syrup.
  • Make sure to keep the phyllo dough covered while working to prevent it from drying out.
  • Baklava can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
