A collection of traditional Puerto Rican appetizers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup of cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of cheese, grated
- 2 cups of meat (chicken or beef), cooked and shredded
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
- Add water gradually and mix until smooth.
- Fold in the cheese and shredded meat.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
Notes
- Serve hot with dipping sauce.
- You can use any meat of your choice.
- Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
